Barbara Kromrey

Barbara Kromrey, age 75 of Cottage Grove, passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 27, 2018.

Visitation will be 5-8 pm, Friday, November 2, 2018 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 – 80th Street S, Cottage Grove.  Funeral service will be 11 am, Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the funeral home.  Private interment will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.

Barbara Ann Arpino was born January 19, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York to Anthony and Sebestiana (Candella) Arpino.  She grew up in the Bronx and graduated from Walton High School in 1961.  She moved to Minnesota shortly after and worked for a variety of positions including Northwestern Bell, Pearson’s Candy and the State of Minnesota where she did data entry.  She was married to Calice “Cal” Kromrey on December 19, 1975 in St. Paul, Minnesota.  Barb loved reading, counter cross stitch and frequenting area thrift shops.  With her deep Italian heritage she learned to be a great cook. Barb enjoyed watching sci-fi movies and rarely missed her “soaps”.  She enjoyed singing, dancing and spending as much time with her family as she could, especially her grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her husband Calice “Cal”; children Jacqueline (Jeremy) Canaday, Veronica Hollatz, Kendra Hollatz; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; siblings Margie Macchia, Gloria (Joseph “Meech”) Cucco, George (Constance “Cookie”) Arpino as well many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Anthony and Sebestiana “Betsy” Arpino and siblings Angelina Baglibio, Francis LaVacca.
