Arnold “Arnie” Nordman, 74 of Cottage Grove passed away Monday, September 8, 2008 at St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood following a lengthy illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, September, 12, 2008 at the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in St. Paul Park with the Reverend Greg Esty officiating. Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 pm on Thursday at Kok Funeral Home in St. Paul Park with a Rosary Service at 7 PM. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Arnold “Arnie” Nordman was born April 13, 1934 in St. Martin Township, Minnesota the son of John and Esther (Miller) Nordman. He graduated from Melrose High School in 1952 and then enlisted in the United States Air Force serving as a Chief Aircraft Mechanic. He was united in marriage to Janet M. Barthel on June 20, 1959. The couple made their home Cottage Grove and he worked for Northwest Airlines as an Aircraft Mechanic. He was later employed as a sheet metal worker for Newmech, retiring in 1993. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren, football, being outdoors and was also very handy working with wood.
He is survived by his wife, Janet of Cottage Grove, four sons: Jeffrey (Karen) of St. Paul, Kevin (Jackie), Mark (Jodi) all of Cottage Grove, Gary (Robin) of Hoschton, GA, eight grandchildren: Amanda, Allison, Aaron, Britni, Chelsy, Alyssa, Olivia & Tori, his brothers: David (Pat) Camano Island, WA, Alan (Judy) of Cottage Grove, Thomas (Jeannie) of West St. Paul, his sister Rosemary (Tom) Qualley of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Ronelda and brother, James.
