Arline Witzel Hessler

Arline Witzel Hessler, age 100, of Cottage Grove, MN passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on May 16, 2024.

Memorial service will be at 3 PM on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Norris Square Chapel, 6995 80th Street S.; Cottage Grove, MN with a visitation one hour prior to service. Private interment will take place at Newport Cemetery in Newport, MN. 

Arline was born on October 13, 1923 in Harris, Minnesota to Mark and Hulda (Carlson) Sybrant. She was raised on the family farm. Arline graduated from business school and later worked at the Northwestern Refinery. After starting a family she decided to stay home to raise her four children. Later in life she worked at 3M as well. Arline enjoyed gardening, fishing and boating. She was involved in many volunteer activities including the Cottage Grove Lions, American Legion Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary and knitting prayer shawls at All Saints Lutheran Church. Most recently at Norris Square Arline enjoyed playing Canasta and '500' with her new friends. She will be deeply missed by all.

Arline is survived by her children Dennis (Marilyn) Witzel, Thomas (Sandi) Witzel, Robert (Paula) Witzel and Jane Potish; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and stepson Richard (Stacie) Hessler.   She is preceded in death by her parents Mark and Hulda Sybrant; husbands Beuford Grothe, George Witzel and Richard Hessler; siblings Everett Sybrant and Olive Lindstrom; son-in-law Roger Potish and great grandson Charlie Witzel. 

Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
