Arlene Dunn

June 5, 1935 — October 3, 2017

Arlene Joyce Dunn, 82, of Cottage Grove died peacefully at home on October 3, 2017 with her loving husband Roy at her side.
Arlene was born on June 5,1935 to Holger Olin & Daphene Peterson in Evan, Minnesota. She graduated from Sleepy Eye High school in 1953. Arlene moved to Minneapolis MN and worked at Farmer & Mechanics Bank. On April 2, 1955 she was united in marriage to Roy Dunn. They lived in South St.Paul until 1959, then built a new house in Cottage Grove where they lived until 1980.  Roy was transferred to Esterville, Iowa where they lived for a few years. From there they moved to Kensington, MN, and lived on the farm caring for her cow, Betsy, gardening and working in the Nutrition Department at  the Alexandria Nursing home. Roy and Arlene moved back to Cottage Grove in 1987 to be near their family.
Arlene enjoyed fishing, collecting antiques, NASCAR, crafts,caring for her roses and working with plastic canvas. Arlene and Roy were both members of a local tractor club.
She is survived by her husband, Roy; four children, Arnold (June), Kathy (John Jr.) Thorvaldson, Peggy and Timothy; grandchildren, Chris, Eric (Maggie Brue), John Paul the 3rd (Erin), Jackie(Matt) Stemwedel, David Cram; great grandchildren, Taylor, Brody, Adalyn, Owen, Shawn; many other relatives and friends.  Preceded by her parents,daughter, Rita; sisters, Phyllis Ricke and Delores Friton. Funeral service, 11:00 am, Tuesday, Oct. 10 at Kok Funeral Home (7676 80th St. S. Cottage Grove) with visitation starting at 10:00 AM. Interment Cottage Grove Cemetery.
