Ardelle L. Reichow (Gerken), 86, of Cottage Grove passed away on Monday, Oct. 2, 2017 in St. Paul. Ardelle was a devoted, loving mother and will be deeply missed by her children, David, Mary (John) Holeman, Cynthia (Mark) Goldstein, Bill (Sue) and Kathleen (Mark) Ryan; grandchildren, Christie, Ben, Matt, Jeff, Bob, Alex, Joel, Kayla and Jack; great grandchildren, Walter, Joseph, Ashley, Lola, Julia and Troy; best friend, Jan Murphy; cousin Merlin Eggen. Preceded in death by husband, William; son, Mark; great grandson, Victor and her parents, Lucille & Arnold.
Ardelle was born on July 14, 1931 in St. Paul, Minnesota, she grew up in Aberdeen, South Dakota until she was nine then returned to St. Paul. Ardelle attended Mount St. Benedict, a boarding school in Crookston, MN. She graduated from Wilson High School in St. Paul and married William Reichow on September 4, 1950. They spent their first several years of marriage living in Beloit, Wisconsin. In 1955, they moved back to Minnesota and purchased their first home in St. Paul’s Eastside/Phalen neighborhood where they raised their family. In 1993, Ardelle and Bill moved to Cottage Grove. Ardelle loved sewing, baking and decorating cakes, camping, biking and any type of crafting. Ardelle and Bill enjoyed dancing and RV travel, they were members of the Traveling Saints camping club and the Rolling Squares square dancing/camping group. Ardelle especially loved children and was happiest surrounded by family.
Funeral service 11 am Saturday, Oct 7th at Kok Funeral Home (1201 Portland Ave. St. Paul Park) with visitation starting at 10am. Interment Newport Cemetery.
