Alvina Wilson

April 20, 1924 — September 18, 2014

Alvina M. Wilson, age 90 of Oakdale and Newport, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Center in Inver Grove Heights.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Kok Funeral Home, 1201 Portland Avenue, St. Paul Park. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home and also one hour prior to service on Tuesday. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery in Maplewood, MN.

Alvina Marie (Sorenson) Wilson was born April 20, 1924 in Valley City, North Dakota to Elmer and Maude (Rhein) Sorenson. She was introduced to Francis Wilson by a friend and later were united in marriage in 1948. They built a home in Oakdale and lived in the basement until the rest of the house was finished. They enjoyed many years there and together raised their daughters. Alvina also drove school bus for 21 years. After Francis died in 1994 she moved to Red Rock Manor in Newport where she resided for several years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Alvina is survived by four daughters, Sandra (Clifford) Japs, Judy (Michael) Lyons, Linda Boehmer and Nancy (Dennis) Raas; nine grandchildren, Marie, Tera, Jessica, Jolene, Bob, Lynnette, Greg, Cindy and Nate; eight great-grandchildren, Mason, Aidin, Ari, Neela, Hunter, James, Leo and Evie.

She is preceded in death by her husband Francis; daughter Marie; parents; brothers, Elmer, Melvin and Donald.
